  23. When I connect to my Unix workstation, I have to connect through a 
  24. terminal server, and then I telnet to my machine.  If I do not 
  25. initiate an 8-bit connection from the terminal server to the workstation,
  26. sz will hang as you describe.

  28. If you are connecting through a terminal server you should investigate
  29. methods of establishing an 8-bit connection.  My terminal server
  30. requires "telnet -b machinename" but I have seen other terminal
  31. servers which have other mechanisms.

  33. Additionally I often have the same problem if I log in through
  34. a string of machines and then try to initiate a download.
